At Scale, we believe that the next frontier of artificial intelligence is embodied. The Physical AI team is focused on building general AI that can reason and act in the physical world. By leveraging Scale’s massive, industry-leading data infrastructure, we are partnering with frontier labs to build Foundation Models for Physical AI that will redefine the future of automation. As a Technical Writer on the Physical AI team, you will create and maintain the training content that keeps our global operations running. Working closely with engineers, operators, and regional leads, you’ll turn complex technical knowledge into clear, structured documentation — and help build the content practices that ensure consistency as we scale. This is a high-impact role for someone who is rigorous about quality, quick to ramp on new technical domains, and excited about contributing to a content infrastructure that spans teams and regions. Core Responsibilities Create and maintain comprehensive training materials — including guides, tutorials, SOPs, troubleshooting docs, and certification content — for a range of audiences including Operators, Technicians, Ops Leads, QMs, and Engineering teams. Become a go-to resource for Robotics and collections systems, developing deep enough fluency to translate technical complexity into documentation that non-technical users can act on. Identify knowledge gaps across teams and proactively address them with new or updated content, keeping materials current with evolving tools and processes. Work within established content standards and templates to ensure documentation is consistent, accessible, and ready for use across multiple regions. Support the localization and adaptation of training materials for international teams, working within i18n frameworks to ensure regional consistency. Partner with engineers, product managers, and operators to gather source material, validate accuracy, and synthesize complex information into actionable documentation. Assist in the delivery and continuous improvement of onboarding and training programs. Maintain a regular review cadence for existing content, flagging and resolving accuracy issues and versioning changes as tools and processes evolve. Qualifications/Requirements 2–4 years of experience in technical writing, ideally in a technology, robotics, hardware, or operations-heavy environment. Proven ability to learn complex technical systems quickly and translate them into clear documentation for non-technical audiences. Experience working within documentation systems, style guides, or content standards — and a strong instinct for consistency and quality. Familiarity with internationalization (i18n) considerations in content creation — you understand what it means to write for translation and adaptation across regions. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; you’re comfortable working with engineers, ops leads, and subject matter experts to extract and validate information. Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple content workstreams simultaneously. Experience with content management systems and documentation tooling. Entrepreneurial mindset — you’re energized by building and are comfortable navigating ambiguity. Nice to Have Experience in robotics, physical AI, or hardware operations environments. Spanish language proficiency. Exposure to certification or credentialing program design. Compensation packages at Scale for eligible roles include base salary, equity, and benefits.
